It’s Spring in the Valley – Get out there!
Spring brings lots of reasons to want to get outside, and our region has lots of family-friendly activities!
The World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast
This Saturday, May 13 in Downtown Springfield is the World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast! Tickets are $1 for children and $3 for adults. You can’t beat that price! It’s a great community event bringing thousands of folks to the Giant Table on Main Street, with celebrity chefs serving up buttermilk pancakes, bacon, juice and coffee by the tons. The Springfield Police Department, as well as the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department will be bringing their canine dogs for demonstrations and photographs. You can also bring your pet to the breakfast and have their picture taken in the backseat of one of the SPD canine vehicles for $5.
In addition to food, there’s lots of entertainment at the Breakfast, including horse-drawn wagon and miniature train rides, inflatable games and a trailer full of video games. Plus, the Springfield Fire Department will bring some equipment kids can climb on.
Mother’s Day
Sunday May 14 is Mother’s Day, so make sure you do something extra nice to thank mom for all her hard work!
On Saturday May 13, Make-It Springfield is offering a FREE Mother’s Day Card making class! Come get creative and make mom something memorable and heartfelt. She will love it!
You may also want to consider buying mom some flowers she can plant in the yard, or a flowering shrub that will remind her year round how much you care!
